Supernumerary Tooth

So at the end of our stay in Missouri, Quincey started to get really cranky.  I chalked it up to just being tired of traveling and being off of her normal schedule, but, as we got to Wyoming, it became clear that something else was wrong.

It was then that I happened to have a good view into her mouth (she HATES me trying to poke and prod in her mouth) that I saw she had a tooth growing from the roof of her at, what looked like, a 90 degree angle in between her front big tooth and the one next to it.  I was worried because, in addition to this, I could only see half of her front incisor that had come in months ago.  I looked as though half of it was just gone.  Like it had chipped off maybe.  That was all I could think so, I definitely didn't want to wait to get home to get some sort of professional opinion.  So, I called my sister who called her brother-in-law who is a dentist.  I sent him the only pictures I could really get of her mouth and after looking at this, he stated that it was obvious she had an abscess which was causing her gum line to swell over the tooth that she has had for a long time which is making it look like half of it was gone.  Not sure if that was good news but, I was glad that she hadn't lost half of one of he baby teeth.

He also stated that he though her teeth were just growing in the wrong order.  Although I wasn't convinced of this, I was glad to hear that regardless, none of it was serious and the abscess would clear up within a few days which it did.

However, when we got home I promptly called a pediatric dentist and got her in.  After examining her, he explained that she has a supernumerary tooth which is an extra baby tooth that is growing out of the roof of her mouth at a 90 degree angel!  He said that there also may be a chance that it is fused together with the tooth next to it but we wouldn't know until they grew in more.  This was a couple months ago and, it's safe to say that it's simply an extra baby tooth.  Which, in turn, could mean an extra adult tooth as well.  But, we'll deal with that in years to come if we have to.

I always knew that Quincey was special and unique!

Here are the only pictures I could get that showed her mouth.

And, I was told that lots of popcicles should be in store for Quincey while she deals with the pain.  She, of course, loves them!

Off to Wyoming

 This blog is so overdue!

After we left Missouri in July, we headed to Wyoming for a week. Joe had some field work to do so I took the time to spend at grandpa's.

But, before getting to Wyoming, we had to go through Nebraska and wouldn't you know it, my niece Abby had literally just moved into an apartment in Lincoln the day before.  I had no idea we would be going through or that Abby would be there so, we took a quick pit stop to see her for a bit.  We knew it was going to be a long day in the car so we didn't stay longer than it took to eat some lunch but, what an absolutely pleasant surprise.

Finally, we got to Wyoming.  It was so nice to be back home, sleep in my childhood bedroom, and watch Quincey explore the same back yard I remember exploring.  She had a great time and was in a great mood for the most part, but tooth issues caused some definite crankiness and I don't blame her!

We played on the deck, watered the bucket, watered the flowers, ate Popsicle, played in the back of a trailer, hung out with auntie Jami and Uncle Martin, went to the LAK, kerpluncked rocks in the lake, tried to feed the cat everything, played in the sled, played in the dirt, and many many more things!

We also got to go see two of my childhood friends (who are still my best friends) and their babies that are just a little older than Quincey.  Quincey doesn't get a lot of time to play with other kids her age since she is not in a daycare so, it was obvious that she was happy doing her own thing while the other little girls played together.  Of course Quincey takes after her dad and spent the majority of our time hanging with friends in the dirt and mud.  She was happy as could be, though.

I also got to see a great friend from Custer.  I drove up there and Quincey and I hung out with her for the afternoon.  I may not have known her for as long as the others but, she was an instant friend and has been one of those people you can go years without talking to but, it feels like we just pick up right where we left off regardless of how much time has passed.  Those type of people are not easy to come by!

From Newcastle, I left and met Joe in Sheridan.  I got to go up to the Wyoming Girls School and introduce my precious little girl to my old coworkers and friends.  Joe also got to see some of his old coworkers and their new baby as well.  I wish I would have had more time there and gotten to see more people but regardless, it was absolutely surreal.  The last time I was in Sheridan was September 1, 2018 when Joe flew in, loaded up a U-haul with all my stuff and moved me to New Mexico with him.  It was a leap of faith and the best decision I ever made.  We are now a family of three I would give my life for.

This picture is of us leaving Sheridan.  I totally forget to get a picture of Quincey alone in her namesake town so, this is the best I could do; snap a picture as we drove away.

All in all, it was a wonderful time in Wyoming.  My heart resides where my family is no matter if that is New Mexico or somewhere else, but my heart swells super big when I'm in my home state- my roots grow deep in Wyoming.  To have my family and Wyoming "under the same roof" is an extra special feeling.

Happy 2nd Birthday to Our Baby!

From baby to toddler went by waaaayyy too fast.  Like a blink of the eye, our little baby princess is a little toddler.  And she is so darn...
